Hello!

My name is Jeannette E. Smith. As a veteran teacher with twenty-nine years experience, I have worked with all students; from the severely profound to regular education students. This is my third year at Capitol Middle School as a reading and Language Arts teacher. I am pleased to have the opportunity to work at this site and with your child. I am expecting a good year and great things from my students.

My expectations: all students should strive to achieve their highest potential. I expect students to participate in class activities and complete homework assignments. Students are expected to study class notes, lessons, and review notes daily as part of homework to prepare in advance for quizzes and tests.

Grading: Grades are determined by the number of points earned over the nine weeks grading period. Students will receive their graded class assignments in a timely manner. The grading scale is based upon the EBRP guideline. The scale is as follows:

*94-100=A

*88-93=B

*78-87=C

*70-74=D 

After school tutoring is offered to all students here at Capitol Middle. Tutoring schedule is Monday- Thursday 2:30-5:00p.m.
